  • Inside the CFL: Marc Trestman still feels comfortable in Montreal

    HERB ZURKOWSKY, MONTREAL GAZETTE

Coaches are creatures of habit. Marc Trestman’s professional coaching career has taken him to 12 ports of call — 13, if you consider his two stints with the Minnesota Vikings. And yet in late June or early July, almost on an annual basis, the former head coach of the Alouettes returns to Montreal, staying in a boutique hotel not far from the condo that was his home for five years. It’s not a coincidence. “We love the city and we have people that we care about here. We love being down here and being part of … walking around. We don’t do anything special. I run every morning. We go to different places to eat and try to catch a game and see some of the people that were part of our lives,” Trestman said one morning this week over coffee, casually dressed in jeans, a pullover, sneakers — without laces — and no socks. “We feel at home here. “The whole menu of things that happened here … I just always felt comfortable h...

Original article from Waterloo Region Record
    By Mark Bryson

WATERLOO — Boxing hasn’t been the same since Mike Tyson’s reign of terror came to an end with back-to-back losses to Evander Holyfield almost 20 years ago. That’s the opinion of Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo, who believes the sport needs an exciting heavyweight champion to bring it back to a mainstream audience. “Ask most people who the heavyweight champion of the world is and they won’t be able to tell you. I know it’s the Klitschko brother (Wladimir), but he’s not exciting to watch, he doesn’t fight enough and he usually fights in Ukraine or Germany or Russia and you hear nothing about the fight until it’s over. And then it’s just two or three lines in a newspaper,” said the 77-year-old Chuvalo on Wednesday night. “The heavyweight division just isn’t what it once was. It was the king of all divisions, the best of the best … but it’s been beat up and banged around and ther...
